Kevan McCann is an international touring bass player now making his home in Atlanta, Georgia. Kevan was born in Clearwater, Florida; he was influenced by the golden days of ‘90s MTV as well as his parents’ love of music from the ‘60s and ’70s. After studying piano during early childhood, he learned to play bass, guitar, drums, and saxophone as a teenager. He performed in rock bands, school bands and choirs throughout high school. His explorations in music earned him an admission to the Florida State University College of Music in Tallahassee, Florida, where he received his B.A. studying classical piano. He joined the blues ensemble as a bassist while attending the school and was drawn to the local blues music scene. He spent several years learning and performing in that community, playing gigs on the local and regional level. In the past two years, Kevan has played in 43 states in the USA, Washington DC, two Canada provinces, Poland and Belgium. He embraces the tonality and approach of the pioneers of electric bass while instilling a modern character and dynamic energy in his bass lines and performance.
