GHS Strings is proud to welcome Daniel Grindstaff to its growing roster of artists. A two-time IBMA-nominated banjoist, Grindstaff has built a distinguished career in bluegrass and American music through world-class musicianship, deep respect for tradition, and a forward-looking creative vision.
A native of East Tennessee, Grindstaff began his professional career at just 18 years old, performing at the Grand Ole Opry alongside bluegrass legends Jim and Jesse McReynolds. By age 21, he was also sharing the stage with the Osborne Brothers, best known for their iconic recording of “Rocky Top.” His career continued to expand in 2006 when he joined Grammy Award–winning artist Marty Raybon, contributing to studio recordings and touring extensively over the next five years.
Over the years, Grindstaff has amassed hundreds of appearances on the Grand Ole Opry stage, performed across the United States and Canada, and appeared on national platforms including Fox & Friends, CMA Music Fest, and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. His work reflects a rare blend of technical excellence, musical sensitivity, and deep-rooted authenticity.
In 2024, Grindstaff released Heroes & Friends, a project that resonated strongly with fans and radio alike. The album’s single “Forever Young,” featuring Dolly Parton and Paul Brewster, reached #1 on both the Bluegrass Today and Bluegrass Unlimited charts, followed by another #1 with “Finnland,” featuring Andy Leftwich. The album itself went on to become the #1 Bluegrass album of March 2025 on the Bluegrass Unlimited chart.
Looking ahead, Grindstaff enters an exciting new chapter with the upcoming release of Daniel Grindstaff & the Uptown Troubadours, scheduled for March 20, 2026. Featuring Derek Deakins, Kevin Richardson, and Kent Blanton, the project has already made a substantial impact, with its first two singles—“Angel Dream” and “The Death of John Henry”—both reaching #1 on the Bluegrass charts.
“We’re excited to welcome Daniel to the GHS family,” said Russ McFee, President and CEO of GHS Strings. “His musicianship, respect for tradition, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with what GHS stands for. We’re proud to support him as his journey continues to evolve.”
GHS Strings is honored to support Daniel Grindstaff as he continues shaping the future of bluegrass music while honoring its rich heritage.
