GHS Strings Announces Roger Chambers As New Artist Endorser

GHS Strings is proud to welcome bassist and multi-instrumentalist Roger Chambers to its family of endorsing artists. Known for his deep groove, articulate tone, and rare ability to move effortlessly between musical worlds, Chambers has built a career spanning gospel, jazz, R&B, and international touring.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Roger's musical journey began early. He took up piano at four, guitar by six, and discovered the bass at age twelve — an instrument that quickly became his voice both in recording studios and on stages around the world. His early years saw him perform with notable Jamaican gospel and jazz musicians, where his natural feel and pocket set him apart.

After relocating to Houston, Texas, Chambers continued his growth in both music and academia, studying Computer Science at Prairie View A&M University. His presence in the Houston music scene flourished, leading to performances with smooth jazz standouts such as Dean James, Kyle Turner, Althea René, and Terisa Griffin at the Houston International Jazz Festival. Roger has since performed alongside a wide range of respected artists, including Alex Bugnon, Marqueal Jordan, Vandell Andrew, Sy Smith, Rebecca Jade, Michael Manson, and longtime collaborator Mike Phillips, with whom he has worked consistently since 2014.

Gospel has remained central throughout Roger's career. He has toured the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Nigeria with notable artists including Micah Stampley, Brian Courtney Wilson, Cedric Ford & Heart of Worship, Daniel Johnson, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, and Kathy Taylor. His recording credits include work with James Fortune, V. Michael McKay, Junior Scott, and Hans Christian Jochimsen, further showcasing his versatility and commitment to excellence.

Chambers also connects with audiences online through performance clips, musical snippets, and gear demos — introducing players to his love for bass and keyboards while inspiring new generations of musicians.

"Roger has built a reputation on consistency and musical honesty," said Russ McFee, President of GHS Strings. "He's the kind of player who makes every band feel better the moment he plugs in. We're thrilled to support his work and welcome him to the GHS family."

Roger continues to craft a career focused on authentic expression, technical clarity, and deep groove. His dedication to musicianship and his versatility across genres make him a strong ambassador for GHS's long-standing commitment to quality and innovation.
