Hailing from Hamilton, New Jersey, Charles Laurita is a multi-instrumentalist as well as the frontman of his original funk group, Charles Laurita & The Mischief.
Charles began playing and learning music at only 8 years old, and soon after began writing not only his own music, but arranging the songs of others in his unique style - which was an amalgamation of his interest in rock, blues, pop, funk, disco, Motown, jazz, and classical. With the influence of so many artists and genres, intertwined with his knowledge of writing and theory, Laurita was finally able to craft the perfect group to perform his original music: Charles Laurita & The Mischief.
The Mischief, once described as "the love child of James Brown and Black Sabbath," sports their very own brand of music, aptly titled "Alternafunk." With a tight horn section and heavy dance grooves, as well as their solid basslines and memorable melodic styles, Charles Laurita & The Mischief breaks down the barriers of genre and offers something to music lovers of every walk of life.
In addition to releasing a self-titled EP in 2013, The Mischief debuted their first full-length album, Interstellar Fortuneteller, in 2017. With no signs of slowing down or stopping, Charles Laurita is continuously and perptually writing and arranging new music for future albums and various recording projects.
