Guildford based 25-year-old British singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & solo artist Callum Gardner blends Blues, Jazz & Soul to create intricate arrangements focused on perceptive lyrics, emotive vocals & a unique approach to playing acoustic guitar. His musical education began at 12-years-old, studying bass guitar, drums, acoustic guitar, vocals, double bass & music theory, before obtaining a Diploma in Music Performance from ACM Guildford in 2012 & graduating from LCCM London in 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance & Production. After gaining endorsement from Cassidy Guitars & performing 128 solo shows in 2019, the self-managed independent artist reached out to Aston Microphones in March 2020 to gain their support in recording & self-producing his debut album during the first lockdown. Using exclusively Aston products including the Spirit, Stealth, Origin, Stereo Starlights & Halo Shadow, Callum began performing, recording & producing his album on the 15th of May 2020. He worked remotely with Ronnie Ciamponi, who performed electric guitar on nine of the twelve tracks on the album, & Eliott Glinn, who Mixed & Mastered the release, in order to help capture his vision for the songs & fulfil Callum’s lifelong dream of self-producing & releasing an album. Callum takes influence from various genres, including artists such as; Stevie Wonder, Chris Cornell, Bob Marley, BB King, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Carole King, Bill Withers, Johnny Cash & Carlos Santana to name a few. The music Callum writes is heavily guitar based. This release features two steel string acoustics, a nylon string acoustic, a 12-string acoustic, a resonator acoustic, a fretless acoustic bass, a 5- string bass & various electric guitars. Callum also performed all vocals & percussion on the album, including cajon, shakers, tambourine, cabasa, guiro, castanet & cymbals.
