Outrun the Sunlight is a 4-piece American instrumental progressive metal band from Chicago, IL. The group is known for blending elements of jazz, post-rock, and ambience to form emotional and epic songs. Their latest album, “Terrapin,” (received 4.5/5 from Heavy Blog Is Heavy) was released December 16, 2014 through a successful Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign that raised 129% of it’s intended goal. The album features 47 minutes of thought-provoking, eccentric metal music written over a 3-year period. The band began as a DIY studio-project in 2011, and between 2013-2014, gained three additional members for the creation of a full live band. At their first ever performance, they packed 200 people into Reggies Rock Club on a Tuesday night, and since then have shared the stage with The Contortionist, Russian Circles, Haken (UK), CHON, Polyphia, The Fine Constant, Intervals, Plini, Angel Vivaldi, Save Us From The Archon, Starkill, Next to None, Marbin, Warforged, Sioum, and many others. In August 2015, the band toured with Metal Blade Records artist Native Construct and Outerloop Management artist Wings Denied on The Proggest August Tour.
