Michael Petrino, born November 11, 1988, is a professional bassist with roots deep in the Buffalo, New York music scene. Inspired by the likes of Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorious, James Jamerson and Sean Hurley, Michael’s perspective has blended these world class styles into his own unique, distinct technique.
Born to a multi-generational musically talented family, Michael began playing trumpet at a young age. Through high school Michael played in orchestra and jazz bands, eventually leading him to form his own jazz quartet after high school. It was then when he found his true talent and passion in playing the bass guitar.
Graduating with an Assoicates Degree in Business from Bryant & Stratton College in 2008, Michael enrolled at Villa Maria College where he focused on not only Music, but the business of the music industry. Studying bass under the late Jim Kurzdorfer (original bassist, Spyro Gyra) afforded Michael an experienced perspective giving him the tools and knowledge needed to mature into a self-determined bassist. Michael graduated in 2014 with Deans List Honors and a BS in Music Industry.
Like all great players, Michael has studied the past in his goal to help shape the future and his soulful playing, impeccable taste and discipline are the foundation for a long career.
Playing professionally for over 11 years, Michael now currently tours and records with Heritage Guitar Pro Artist, JL Fulks.
