  • Gary Antol (Jakob's Ferry Stragglers)

Gary Antol is the guitarist/songwriter for the high energy string band, The Jakob's Ferry Stragglers, based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A student of many styles of music, Antol incorporates jazz, rock, rockabilly, and western swing into his unique brand of flatpicking. Gary, along with his band, have been touring the US for 5 years, playing many bluegrass festivals and clubs along the way. 2017 was capped off with a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Antol began playing the guitar at a young age, influenced by his mothers love for the early music of Elvis Presley and The Beatles. From there, his interests fanned out into the blues and jazz. Antol spent many years playing in show bands on cruise ships, amusement parks, and in Las Vegas, only to come full circle to roots music. The Jakob's Ferry Stragglers formed in 2013 and took their high energy brand of old-time and bluegrass to the road, winning over audiences nationwide. Their two albums, The Lane Change (2014), and White LIghtening Road (2016) received critical acclaim in review from Bluegrass Unlimited, calling the band "a daring and talented young bunch." The Jakob's Ferry Stragglers were featured in The Relix Magazine Summer CD Sampler in 2015, with their recording of the Keith McManus original, "Mannington #9." The band also appeared in Episode 1 of WGN Network Series, "Outsiders."
