I was going nuts trying to get rid of a buzz on the A string on a Mexico Player Precision Bass.   After looking online I saw one solution is to get about 5 wraps on the tuner post to force the string down for the proper break angle.  The problem was finding information on how long the taper or "silk" end is on the strings for 5 wraps.   The GHS Flea Long Scale are listed at 36.5" string length (ball to taper).  I found the silk end to be an additional 11" which gave me precisely 5 wraps on the A string.  My MIM Precision is a 34" long scale bass.  It measures 36" from the base of the bridge to the top of the nut.  The 36.5" strings actually measure about 37" when on the bass under tension (ball end to silk).
