May 8-10 saw the fifth annual Mighty Uke Day take over Old Town Lansing, with group strums and open mic at Sir Pizza, workshops by Stu Fuchs and Victoria Vox, and lots of other events and surprises. While the weather was overcast and rainy at times, Elizabeth and Jon from GHS Strings manned the covered booth to hand out strings. The trade off was simple; a free set of GHS Strings in exchange for a picture that we could use on our social media site. The response, as you can see below, was overwhelming and enthusiastic!
Not only did the new Artist Curated Series of Ukulele Strings get a lot of praise, but so did our Americana Acoustic Guitar sets, as well as one happy gentleman who scored a set for his Tiple! Product Development and Social Media Manager, Jon Moody, also co-led a workshop with Chester Winowiecki, called "The Care and Feeding of your Ukulele," where he talked about different types of ukulele strings to help players navigate the wall of strings.
All in all, MUD5 was a wonderful event to attend, meet new faces, connect with familiar ones, and play the ukulele! Look for GHS Strings to be manning their booth at MUD6, next May!
